In just 27 games this season, Atlanta Hawks rookie point guard Trae Young has managed to post five 20-point, 10-assist performances. According to a report from Justin Kubatko, the Oklahoma native is now the fastest rookie to achieve that feat since former Toronto Raptors point guard Damon Stoudamire, who posted five 20-point, 10-assist games in the first 11 appearances of his rookie season (1995-1996) Stoudamire went on to win Rookie of the Year..

Though the Hawks are struggling with a 6-21 overall record, Young (20-years-old), is enjoying a fine rookie season. Through the first quarter of this season, 2018's fifth overall pick has racked up averages of 15.7 points on 38.2 percent shooting from the field (24.7 percent from beyond the arc), 7.3 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 29.6 minutes per outing.

Young scored 24 points and 10 assists in Wednesday night's game against the Mavericks.

The rookie's fifth double-double of the season wasn't enough, though, as Dallas went on to win 114-107. Mavs forward Luka Doncic recorded his second double-double of the season but Young and the Hawks held the former EuroLeague MVP to 5-of-14 shooting from the field.

“He's a really good player and we can only hope to contain him,” Young told ESPN after Wednesday night's game, referring to Doncic. “He didn't get too many good looks.”

The Hawks will be back in action on Friday night, as they're scheduled to face the Celtics in Beantown. Tip-off inside TD Garden is set for 7:00 p.m. EST.
