The Dallas Mavericks and Atlanta Hawks will forever be linked as the teams swapped 2018 NBA Draft picks en route to each adding rookie point guards. With the Mavs ultimately landing rookie phenom Luka Doncic, the Hawks didn't come up empty-handed as Atlanta managed to secure the services of point guard Trae Young.

As a result of the now infamous draft night trade, Young realizes that there is a true connection between he and Doncic.

“I know it’s a part of my life now,” Young recently said, via Marc Stein of The New York Times. “I tell everybody that hopefully we’re both 15-plus years down the line and we’re still playing and it’s a competition that’s been going since draft night. You think it’s going to go on forever, so might as well just accept it and take it on as a challenge.”

However, Young knew that it wouldn't be easy to transition to the NBA even though both he and Doncic have made easy work of their respective opponents as of late.

“That first month of the year was difficult for me,” Young added. “There’s definitely an adjustment period for any college shooter. And I think that’s what I was going through early on in the season. I was shooting terrible. I was really just thinking about it too much.”
