Despite the early doubts of his potential as an NBA player, Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young was voted as the best shooter and playmaker by a jury of his peers in the NBA Annual Rookie Survey.

Young dominated the shooter debate with a vote of 47 percent, while Atlanta Hawks shooting guard Kevin Huerter and Los Angeles Lakers wing Svi Mykhailiuk tied for second place with 13 percent.

The Oklahoma product's antics are well storied, possessing ridiculous range, which he put on display throughout his lone season of college basketball, leading the nation in points (27.4) and assists (8.7).

Portland Trail Blazers draft selection Gary Trent Jr. finished third in the vote with 9 percent, ahead of Grayson Allen and Donte DiVincenzo.

Young's creativity and playmaking also proved well-above the rest of his peers, receiving 35 percent of the general vote, topping concensus National Player of the Year and two-time champion Jalen Brunson of the Villanova Wildcats (15 percent), now of the Dallas Mavericks.

Other rookies like Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Collin Sexton finished with only nine percent of the vote.

Young surely has elite-level talent to succeed at the NBA level, but it's a matter of whether he can play under control and harness his potential that will make him a star in this league.
