Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young went to two playoff games because he wanted to experience the atmosphere and get a taste of it.

The Hawks missed the playoffs this season, something Young wants to make sure doesn't happen again under his watch.

Young said in the interview that he took some time off to visit family. He also made a couple of business trips. He went to Oklahoma City to watch Game 3 of the Thunder-Trail Blazers series. He also went to Houston to watch Game 3 of the Rockets-Warriors series.

“It’s definitely fuel to the fire that we are not there this year,” Young said, via Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “But I want to be there next year to experience that. … I wanted to experience those playoff atmospheres before I got there.”

The Hawks won only 29 games this season. Young, though, had a spectacular campaign and is one of the favorites to win the 2019 Rookie of the Year.

In 81 games in 2018-19, Young averaged 19.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 8.1 assists while shooting 41.8 percent from the field, 32.4 percent from beyond the arc and 82.9 percent from the free-throw line. The Hawks' floor general recorded 30 double-doubles and one triple-double.

The future in Atlanta is bright with Young leading the way. For the Hawks to make the playoffs next season, management has to sign some impact players in free agency to help Young and center John Collins on offense.
