The first batch of votes for the 2021 NBA All-Star Game is in and Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young only received the sixth-most fan votes for Eastern Conference guards. Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce clearly did not like how the voting went, and he was not shy about making his true feelings known about it.

Coach Pierce has quite a strong take about his star point guard's ranking in the initial ballot returns (via Brad Rowland of UPROXX):

Young amassed 368,126 fan votes, which ranks sixth among guards in the Eastern Conference through the first round of tallies. Bradley Beal leads the pack in the East with 1,273,817 votes, with Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Jaylen Brown, and Zach LaVine all getting more votes than Young. As it is, the 2018 fifth overall pick is in danger of missing out on this year's festivities after making his All-Star debut last season.

For what it's worth, Young is currently in the midst of another breakout campaign. The 22-year-old is currently averaging 26.6 points (on 42.3 percent shooting), 4.2 rebounds, and 9.0 assists, while also connecting on 2.3 triples per game on a 36.5-percent clip. To some extent, you can see why his coach expected a much higher turnout for Young.

It is also worth noting that Young will be out of action on Thursday as Atlanta takes on the Utah Jazz in the State Farm Arena:

Young joins a growing list of Hawks players that are currently dealing with respective injuries. Needless to say, Atlanta will be entering Thursday's matchup against a surging Jazz side shorthanded, with John Collins taking on a more substantial role for the squad sans Young.
