Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young has weighed in on the ongoing debate surrounding the NBA's plans to hold an All-Star game this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

With the festivities set to take place in Atlanta, Young admitted that “I’d love to be a part of it, if there is a game” (h/t Sarah K. Spencer of AJC). However, the 22-year-old also acknowledged the risks involved in the same, saying that he understands the backlash it has prompted from some players:

“But I understand the backlash from a lot of the other players in the league with families and stuff like that, so I understand both sides,” Young added.

There have been more than a few players that have criticized the NBA's All-Star plans, with none more relevant than LeBron James. The King made it clear that he does not agree with the league's proposed plans, which has likewise garnered a number of reactions from some of LeBron's peers around the league.

For his part, Trae Young is taking a neutral stance. The 6-foot-1 point guard made his debut appearance in the All-Star game last year, and he's hoping to make it back-to-back seasons this term. The fact that Atlanta will be the host city of the festivities only fuels Young's desire to participate.

He has made it clear, however, that he also completely understands where players like LeBron are coming from with their criticism. Holding the exhibition game poses an undeniably huge risk — one that some players are unwilling to take.
