Atlanta Hawks veteran swingman Vince Carter has no interest in being an honorary All-Star this season.

Carter is playing in his final NBA season. Last season, Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki were named honorary All-Stars since it was their last year in the league.

Carter only wants to be in the All-Star game if his play with the Hawks does the talking for him.

Khari Arnold of NBA.com: “Are you hoping to be an honorary All-Star this season?”

Carter: “No, no. If I earn it, give it to me. But that’s just me. Don’t take this the wrong way when I say it like that. That’s just who I am. I’m very appreciative of earning my All-Star spots, being a leading vote-getter, so I don’t know. I just have a hard time with it. We’ll see if later down the line my view changes.”

Carter entered the league back in 1998 with the Toronto Raptors. As of Wednesday (Oct. 30), he has career averages of 17.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists with the Raptors, New Jersey Nets (now Brooklyn Nets), Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Hawks.

Whether he likes it or not, Carter is going to get standing ovations from road arenas all year long. After all, fans want to pay homage to an NBA legend.

Hopefully, the Hawks make the playoffs this season so NBA fans can watch Carter play in the postseason one final time.
