Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young became public enemy No. 1 when he absolutely wrecked the New York Knicks in the first round of the playoffs, all while mercilessly trolling Knicks fans. It has become a running gag now that Young owns New York.

So, when Young took to Twitter early Friday morning to react to the release of Drake's new album, Certified Lover Boy, it's only natural that people thought he was trolling New York again when he asked this question:

While Jay-Z is often more associated with the Brooklyn Nets because of his past role as a part owner and because he was born in Brooklyn, he has been seen at plenty a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden and surely still has love for them as well.

With fans assuming he was trolling, the Hawks star actually responded to one of them to explain himself:

It seems Trae Young is simply living by the #EmbraceDebate mindset and trying to get a conversation going. The Hawks point guard is a big fan of both rappers and wants to stir up some debate about two of his favorites.

It's of course worth noting that Jay-Z is actually featured on Certified Lover Boy, and Young is clearly a big fan of the track (Love All):

Trae Young might not have actually been trolling New York with his Drake-Jay-Z comment, but I'm sure he can't wait to get back to Madison Square Garden to put on a show against the Knicks again. We might as well throw the Nets in there as well, although it's going to be a tall order to get the last laugh against them given their ridiculously stacked roster. Still, you can bet that the Hawks star is going to try his hardest to take the next step and get to the NBA Finals.
