The Atlanta Hawks are expected to make some moves this summer to improve their team, however, there are speculations that are emerging that it may not be limited to player changes alone.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Hawks' top brass are apparently discussing with head coach and president of basketball operations Mike Budenholzer to vacate his front office position. He will still remain as their coach, but may have to answer to a new president and GM should the move come into fruition.

“In what could turn out to be a dramatic management restructuring of the Atlanta Hawks’ front office, owner Tony Ressler is seriously discussing with president and coach Mike Budenholzer the possibility of Budenholzer relinquishing his management title, league sources told The Vertical.”

“Budenholzer would continue as coach and have a significant voice in player personnel, but could ultimately answer to a new president or general manager, league sources told The Vertical.”

It was also rumored that the Hawks have parted ways with their general manager, Wes Wilcox, but the team was quick to deny it. They issued a statement saying he is still with them and admitted that they are “undergoing a period of evaluation and looking at how basketball operations works best.”

Despite two winning seasons since being at the helm, the Hawks have never made it past the second round of the playoffs. Budenholzer made it known recently that their main goal is to re-sign Paul Millsap this offseason and also talk to Dwight Howard about his diminished role in their first round series against the Washington Wizards. However, with the rumored changes in their front office as well, it may be best if he'll work with their top brass first and find out which direction the team is headed to, before looking into making any moves with their roster.
