This offseason, the Atlanta Hawks have undergone a roster reshape that has seen many of their key players move on to other teams.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Hawks were in talks with, but have now rescinded their offer to veteran big man Marreese Speights.

The 29-year-old is coming off a productive campaign with the L.A. Clippers where he averaged 8.7 points on 44.5 percent shooting from the field and 37.2 percent from beyond the arc with 4.5 rebounds in 15.7 minutes while playing in all 82 games. The nine-year veteran has proven to be quite a durable big man that could be a valuable contributor off the bench.

Meanwhile, the Hawks' decision to end talks with Speights does bring up some questions. The team has seen the likes of Paul Millsap, Dwight Howard, and Tim Hardaway Jr. all depart this summer. It has put the organization in rebuild mode around point guard Dennis Schroder moving forward.

The addition of Speights would have provided the team with a proven player that could be a strong locker room presence. With the free agent market thinning out, he could quickly become one of the most sought out players that could be had on a reasonable short-term deal.
