The Atlanta Hawks still have intentions of trading small forward Kent Bazemore at some point this season after having previous discussions with the New Orleans Pelicans earlier this summer, according to Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

New Orleans pursued a trade for Hawks wing Kent Bazemore this offseason, per league sources. Atlanta still wants to get off Bazemore’s contract, which has a $19.3 million player option for next season that he’ll absolutely pick up.

Kent Bazemore has developed greatly as a player since leaving the Golden State Warriors after his first season-and-change with them, developing into a mid-teens scorer and a capable wing defender.

The 29-year-old undrafted forward out of Old Dominion is likely hitting his prime now, averaging 14.7 points per game on 45.9 percent shooting from the floor (both career highs). The window of opportunity is slim, but Bazemore's stock has never been higher, easily fitting into the 3-and-D mold teams around the league so badly seek.

It's unlikely many teams will want to carry that hefty $19.3 million for the final year of his four-year, $70 million contract, but there is a potential landing spot in teams with ample cap space and in need for a versatile small forward who is just starting to hit his stride in the NBA.

Kent Bazemore is also averaging a career high in thefts with 1.8 per game, and while he has struggled shooting the 3 this season, he shot it at a career-best 39.4 percent clip in 2017-18 season — a formidable skill to have in today's spread-out NBA game.
