Despite numerous reports suggesting that John Collins is now on his way out, the fact still remains that at the moment, he is still a member of the Atlanta Hawks. There was a sense of belief that the 24-year-old was going to be traded ahead of Thursday's 2022 NBA Draft, but obviously, nothing came to fruition.

In the end, the Hawks decided against trading Collins before/during the draft. While this may lead some to believe that Atlanta has made a u-turn in terms of their decision to offload the 6-foot-9 power forward this summer, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports otherwise:

“He’s done in Atlanta,” a source close to Collins said.

It appears that Collins has already made up his mind. While the Hawks try and find the best trade scenario for him, it seems clear that Collins just wants out.

A team that has been heavily linked to a swoop for Collins is the San Antonio Spurs. Rumors suggest that Dejounte Murray could be sent in the opposite direction if Collins makes the move to San Antonio. This wouldn't be the worst trade for Atlanta by any means, considering they could potentially acquire a bona fide All-Star in Murray to pair him with Trae Young in the backcourt.
