After rumors emerged that the Atlanta Hawks are planning to interview former All-Star and NBA champion Chauncey Billups for their vacant general manager post, it has now been reported that they are indeed interested in his services and already scheduled a meeting with him.

The team's top brass will interview Billups in Los Angeles next week, for the post which was vacated by Wes Wilcox earlier this month. They are hoping he meets their qualifications and bring his experience to the table.

The Hawks are apparently planning to make changes to their front office, which could translate to more success in the future. Despite consistently making the playoffs in the last 11 years, they have only gone past the second round once and have not had the chance to compete for the title. With Billups being a former champion and Finals MVP, he may be what the team needs to finally get over the hump and make it out of the Eastern Conference.

Other candidates for the GM post are Detroit Pistons legend Joe Dumars and TV analyst Brent Barry. Their interview schedules have yet to be released, but they are both expected to meet with the Hawks as well in the coming weeks.
