To dunk on a fellow NBA player is one thing. To dunk on an NBA superstar is another, as it can give your confidence that much-needed boost, especially when you're a rookie.

A video posted by Yahoo! Sports NBA shows the Atlanta Hawks rookie forward John Collins with a put-back slam over Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook.

The video shows the rookie running trailing behind the fast break, perhaps waiting for a last-minute dish or to snag a rebound in event that his teammate misses.

What he got was the latter, but even better. He jumped up for the rebound, got it, and managed to slam it down hard. While it is not a clear-cut poster, it certainly did boost Collins' spirits up as well as his teammates who stood up from the bench.

The clip not only shows the 20-year-old rookie's athletic capabilities and timing. It also showcases his diligence on the boards. It certainly looked like an easy lay-up for Taurean Prince but Collins still waited on that rebound in case he misses.

Collins, who played for Wake Forest up until his sophomore year, was drafted 19th overall in the 2017 NBA Draft. Standing at 6-foot-10, Collins provides additional heft for the Hawks front court. Collins has started 13 games out of 61. He is averaging 10.3 points, 7 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per contest in 23 minutes per game.

Though he may not be considered one of the top rookies this year, this recent highlight might eventually put him on the map for years to come.
