Atlanta Hawks rising star Trae Young is taking a rather unconventional route to be one of the greatest shooters of all time. In a workout session, Young practiced 3-pointers from intentionally bad passes.

Despite the ridiculously awful passes, Young managed to gather, get his balance and rise up for the shot — and he drained most of it.

Young is simulating the circumstances of a real NBA game. After all, it's hard to execute a perfect pass in every possession considering the stifling defense of the opposing team. As observed, Young is training for those moments wherein his teammate is getting hounded on defense and has no choice but to heave up a pass. From a seemingly bad possession, they can salvage it into a good one with a 3-pointer.

The 20-year-old Hawks guard is looking to improve on his stellar rookie campaign. He finished second in the Rookie of the Year voting behind Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks. Before he was drafted into the NBA, he was tagged as the next Stephen Curry due to his shooting prowess. However, once he stepped foot in the league, Young slowly came to his own.

Young's shooting isn't as good as Curry yet, but his passing ability and decision-making skills have taken a leap from novice to legitimate professional in a matter of a year.
