Video: Hawks’ Trae Young puts Donovan Mitchell on skates and nails the 3-pointer

Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell,

Superstars Kyrie Irving and Steph Curry are regarded as two of the trickiest ball handlers in the league today, and Atlanta Hawks sophomore guard Trae Young might just also be in that category.

The 21-year-old University of Oklahoma product razzled and dazzled Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell with his slick handles on Thursday night in their match-up at the State Farm Arena.

With the Hawks up by three right around the nine-and-a-half minute of the final period, Young casually brought the ball down court and proceeded to make his move as soon as he got into range. He faked going right and quickly shifted back to his left with a nice crossover and step back combination, leaving Mitchell’s feet entangled in the process.

Spida tried to recover and contest the shot but was too late, as Young drilled the trey right over his extended arm and gave the home team a six-point lead, 93-87. Young even left his shooting form a little too long in celebration as he raced back on D.

His premature celebration would eventually backfire on him, as Atlanta lost its fifth straight game, 106-111. Young finished with a team-high 30 points, eight assists, and five boards.
