Goran Dragic ended his international career in style as his 35 points led Slovenia past Serbia, 93-85, to claim their first-ever EuroBasket title.

The 31-year-old Dragic, who announced he would retire from international play at the end of EuroBasket, put up those 35 points in just 28 minutes (20 in the second quarter alone) as he almost single-handedly kept Slovenia afloat through three quarters. He also added seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and three 3-pointers.

Dragic eventually faded in the fourth quarter and suffered from cramps, but the Slovenians were able to hang on for the gold.

With teenage star Luka Doncic (eight points, 3-of-10 field goals) struggling with his shot and hobbling off with an injury in the third quarter, Klemen Prepelic picked up the slack with 21 points, second on the team behind Dragic.

Goran Dragic had an outstanding tournament from start to finish. The Miami Heat point guard averaged 22.6 points (fourth overall in the tournament) with 4.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists as he earned tournament MVP honors.

Hassan Whiteside extended his congratulations to his Heat teammate on Twitter:

The Heat are set to start training camp on September 26, but as Heat beat writer Ira Winderman notes, the team may opt not to require Dragic to report for the start of training camp and give him more time to recover from a long tournament run.
