Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo had one of the greatest blocks in playoff history in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals against Boston Celtics swingman Jayson Tatum.

With the game on the line, Adebayo stuffed Tatum on a dunk attempt, preserving the Heat's Game 1 victory. The play was so stellar that Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson said it was the best block he'd ever seen in the postseason.

What is crazy about the block is that Adebayo's finger actually went numb afterward. The Heat's All-Star center spoke about it with ESPN.

“Well two of my fingers actually went numb,” Adebayo told Rachel Nichols of ESPN. “It was just like a big clap, and two of my fingers went numb.”

This isn't too surprising since Jayson Tatum had a lot of force on his dunk attempt. Fortunately for the Heat, Bam Adebayo was all good for Game 2 and helped Miami win to take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

The Heat are now two wins away from reaching the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014. Jimmy Butler deservingly gets most of the credit for Miami's stellar postseason run thus far, but even the five-time All-Star has said multiple times Adebayo is the most important player on the club.

Thus far in the playoffs, Adebayo is averaging 16.8 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists while shooting 54.0 percent from the field and 83.1 percent from the free-throw line. He is quickly emerging as one of the best young players in the NBA and the Heat are so thankful to have him in their system.
