After making his first All-Star appearance this season, Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo has shown the makings of a star that the Miami Heat can build around.

For his part, the 22-year-old seems to be on board with this idea. He even recently admitted that he admires the type of loyalty exhibited by longtime Heat big man Udonis Haslem. According to Adebayo, he could envision himself as a “Heat lifer” like Haslem:

“Right now, my mindset is yes because I can’t dictate the future,” Adebayo said during a Monday Instagram Live Interview with iHeartRadio’s Ashley Nicole, via Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “If I could, I would like to stay here like [Udonis Haslem].”

That's certainly something Heat fans want to hear from their prized big man. Then again, Adebayo took a bit of a step back with his next statement, saying that nobody can actually predict the future:

“But you never know what happens in the future,” he explained. “Everybody just knew [Dwyane Wade] was a lifer until he left because of situational reasons. You never know. But for me, I feel like I am. I feel like I would want to be a part of [one] organization like UD did just because I look up to UD.”

Adebayo is playing it safe here. He has stated his desire to play for Miami for the rest of his career, but at the same time, opened the door to a possibility of an unforeseen exit sometime in the future.

For the record, Adebayo's current rookie scale contract runs out at the end of the 2020-21 season, though there's a good bet he'll get a lucrative new extension when he's eligible after this season.
