Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal will reportedly seriously consider signing with the Miami Heat if he becomes a free agent in 2021, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Beal has two years left on his contract. The Wizards offered the two-time All-Star a three-year, $111 million extension this summer. Washington is waiting to hear back from Beal.

But if Beal decides to move on from Washington and become a free agent in 2021, the associate — who requested anonymity because he’s not authorized to speak on Beal’s behalf — said he expects the Heat to receive serious consideration.

The associate would not call the Heat or any specific team the favorite if Beal decides to leave Washington, noting other teams also would be considered.

Beal can make more money next summer if he makes an All-NBA team in 2019-20. The Heat are very interested in trading for Beal, but the Wizards have shown no signs they want to move on from the sharpshooter.

Miami is trying to acquire another star player to pair next to Jimmy Butler. The Heat would love to get their hands on Beal right now, but they probably don't mind waiting until the summer of 2021.

Beal averaged 25.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists last season for the Wizards while shooting 47.5 percent from the field, 35.1 percent beyond the arc and 80.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Under Beal’s current contract, the Wizards owe the guard $27.1 million next season and $28.8 million in 2020-21.
