Miami Heat power forward Kelly Olynyk will be unable to compete for Canada in the 2019 FIBA World Cup, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Olynyk suffered a bone bruise in his knee against Nigeria after slipping on what appeared to be a wet spot on the court.

The Heat forward, however, is expected to be ready for the start of the 2019-20 season.

Kelly Olynyk's absence is a huge blow for a Canada team which is already missing some of its big-name players. Both Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray and New York Knicks rookie RJ Barrett are already out for the Canadian team due to injuries.

Kelly Olynyk averaged 10.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists for the Heat last season while also shooting 46.3 percent from the floor, 35.4 percent from beyond the arc and 82.2 percent from the free-throw line. The 28-year-old will make $11.7 million next campaign and has a player option worth $12.2 million for the 2020-21 season.

Olynyk signed a four-year, $50 million deal with the Heat in the summer of 2017 after spending the first four years of his career with the Boston Celtics.

The Heat will be hopeful that Olynyk's injury is not that serious. He is reportedly back in Miami and being evaluated by team doctors to determine the extent of his injury.
