Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. took home the 2020 Slam Dunk Contest crown on a controversial decision by the judges in the second tie-breaker over Aaron Gordon.

After Aaron Gordon completed his final dunk, a dunk over 7-foot-5 Tacko Fall, most of the people in the arena, including Reggie Miller and Kenny “The Jet” Smith, believed the Orlando Magic forward will cap off his night with six perfect scores and finally claim his well-deserved Dunk Contest title.

However, Derrick Jones Jr. admitted he knew something was up when he saw the judges taking too long to give Gordon's score, via Ben Golliver of The Washington Post.

People are mad. NBA Twitter certainly didn't hold back in voicing out their opinions from All-Star Saturday night's controversial main event. They felt Derrick Jones owned the moment.

This isn't to say that Derrick Jones didn't deserve the win. He put on a phenomenal performance himself. He certainly wowed the crowd with his between-the-legs alley-oop dunk off the backboard.

But Gordon certainly deserved to at least take home some hardware, not just Derrick Jones, after scoring five 50's through his first five dunks. Moreover, he arguably also had the best dunk of the night, a 360 alley-oop throwdown off a side of the backboard pass from teammate Markelle Fultz.

Reggie Miller and Kenny Smith openly voiced out on air, prior to the second tie-breaker, that both should be crowned co-winners of this year's competition. Unfortunately, the second tie-breaker happened and the judges thought Derrick Jones Jr.'s free throw line windmill was one point the better of Gordon's dunk over Tacko.

Gordon shortly announced following the contest that he no longer plans to return to the competition after three failed attempts to snatch the crown. He also added that he should already have two trophies at this point, referring to his previous controversial loss to Zach LaVine in the classic 2016 Slam Dunk Contest.
