In the season opener loss the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night, veteran guard Dion Waiters once again dealt with the nagging issues regarding his ankle injury as he sprained it three times during the contest.

It's something that Waiters indicated after the game could linger on throughout this season, according to Ira Winderman of The Sun-Sentinel.

“Mind over matter,” he said. “I wanted to get the win, so I can't be limping and do all that type of stuff and show weakness. At the end of the day, that's not who I am. But we just got to keep strengthening it and whatever, and just take care of it. That's all I can do.”

This is the same left ankle that forced him to miss the last 13 games of the 2016-17 campaign, which the Heat fell just shy of earning a playoff spot. Waiters also continued difficulty with the injury during training camp heading into this season.

There is currently no clarity as to what the current plan of action will be for the Heat in regards to the ailment. However, the fact that the organization committed fours years for $52 million to Waiters should lead to a closer look and care around the situation moving forward this season.

If these issues with his left ankle continue to linger, the Heat may be forced to shut him down for a few days or weeks in order for him to completely heal from the injury. It is certainly grown into something to keep an eye on over the next few days.
