Dion Waiters could cash in a lot more of his Philly Cheese swag this upcoming season if he can suit up consistently for the Miami Heat, as his contract stipulation offers a $1.1 million incentive if he can play in 70 games, according to ESPN via Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Waiters missed 36 of the 82 regular season games, making this a common-sense move for the franchise, urging the young shooting guard to pay the utmost attention to his recovery, having earned the starting shooting guard spot going into camp.

“Because Waiters did not meet that threshold last season, it is listed as an ‘unlikely' bonus, despite reaching that total in the three previous seasons before he joined the Heat last summer on a one-year free-agent contract,” Winderman wrote.

The 25-year-old suffered a left ankle injury against the Minnesota Timberwolves which cut his season short and while he debated a comeback as his team was narrowing to sneak into the playoffs after an 11-30 start to the season, it ultimately let him down.

The Heat have also established other incentives like giving center Kelly Olynyk an “unlikely” bonus of $1 million if he plays 1,700 or more minutes this season and giving the newly-signed James Johnson a body-fat measurement trigger bonus, one that has become quite popular in the rigorous athletic war zone that the Heat's training room has become over the years.
