Miami Heat shooting guard Dion Waiters could make his season debut against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. Waiters has been upgraded to questionable after undergoing left ankle surgery on Jan. 23.

It has been a long road back for Waiters, and he has been chomping at the bit to return to the floor. He recently had a successful stint in the G League and proclaimed himself ready to play earlier this week.

Waiters only appeared in 30 games last season due to his ankle injury after re-upping with the Heat on a four-year, $52 million deal. He averaged 14.3 points, 3.8 assists and 2.6 rebounds in 30.6 minutes per game, but he struggled with his shooting to the tune of 39.8 percent overall and 30.6 percent from 3-land.

Waiters had a career season in 2016-17, at least when he was healthy enough to stay on the court (46 games). Miami is hoping to get that 2016-17 version of the 27-year-old now that he's healthy again. The Heat could certainly use the scoring punch, as they rank 22nd in the NBA in offensive rating, per NBA.com. They're only 17-18 on the season, but that's still good enough for the seventh spot in the weak Eastern Conference.

The Cavs, Dion Waiters' first team, are last in the entire NBA with an 8-29 record.
