Just a few years ago Hassan Whiteside was one of the brightest up and coming stars for the Miami Heat. He was the 33rd overall pick by the Sacramento Kings but bounced around between the G League and overseas before finding his way back to the Miami Heat.

This year didn't go the way that Whiteside or the Heat wanted it to go, especially in the playoffs. In the elimination game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Whiteside only saw the court for 10 minutes scoring only two points.

Whiteside was clearly frustrated by his role with the team but for his teammate Dion Waiters, he hopes the frustrations can turn into motivation and not just anger.

“The best thing to do is just bite your tongue sometimes at the end of the day because either you’re gonna back it up with your play or then, once again, the internet, like I said, a gift and a curse,” Waiters said on ESPN's Get Up!. “So I think he should learn from this, but at the end of the day, it should motivate him. You don’t cry about that. Me, personally, whatever happens, whatever went on, I’d have gotten right in the gym. I’ma prove myself.”

For Waiters, he is signed through the 2020 season with the Heat, and Whiteside is signed through the 2021 season. If the Heat decide to keep Whiteside that means Waiters and Whiteside are going to be spending a lot of time together the next few years. If the Heat want to keep improving and not regress, Whiteside needs to play more like the center from a few years ago, rather than the center from this year.
