Dwyane Wade quickly dismissed a prior report by Adam Spolane of Houston Sports Radio 610, who reported the 36-year-old shooting guard had agreed to a one-year deal with the Miami Heat, making it the last of his NBA career. The 12-time All-Star called the report “fake news” on his Twitter account.

Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype shut down the report hours ago as well, saying there is no imminent agreement between the franchise and the veteran backcourt player, claiming retirement was still under “serious consideration.”

Some familiar with the Heat beat noted there would be “no way” that Wade would play for the veteran's minimum, coming off a season in which he signed for just that, but only after managing to navigate a buyout with his hometown Chicago Bulls.

Wade played as a reserve for the first time in his career last season, a sign that his career is starting to trend down due to his age and the myriad injuries and bruises he suffered early in his career with his overly physical and fearless play style.
