After spending 1.5 seasons with the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers, Dwyane Wade returned home to the Miami Heat at the trade deadline. While this was perhaps the most surprising trade, Wade will now have an opportunity to retire with the team he spent the first 13 seasons of his career with.

As Wade stated he will retire with the Heat, Jorge Sedano of ESPN asked if he wants a farewell tour like Kobe Bryant:

While Wade's response has received attention for the wrong reasons, he did not call Bryant a ‘narcissist' and clarified his comments in the ESPN interview. Although Bryant was appreciative of his farewell tour, he admitted to Wade it was ‘exhausting' during the 2015-16 NBA season.

At 36 years old, the end is a lot closer for Wade. While it is unclear when the 12-time NBA All-Star will retire, his focus is on helping the Heat win games. With Dion Waiters missing the remainder of the 2017-18 NBA season after ankle surgery, the Heat are currently 30-27, 2.5 games ahead of the Detroit Pistons for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

After starting the majority of his career with the Heat, Wade has come off the bench in his second stint. As head coach Erik Spoelstra is comfortable with Goran Dragic and Tyler Johnson in the backcourt, it will be interesting to see if Wade eventually returns to his old role as they look to make the playoffs after missing them last season.

Wade is averaging 11.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 48 appearances.
