The Miami Heat are on a hot streak at the moment. They're 7-2 in March, and Dwyane Wade has a theory as to why. According to the Miami Herald, the Heat have had a 93-100 record in every game outside of March since 2016-17, but a 26-15 record in the month.
Wade is here to break it down.
Their success this month, according to Wade, has a lot to do with the system and culture, as well as head coach Erik Spoelstra.
Wade believes that the system and culture work, but sometimes it takes a while to get used to it. So while other teams are tiring out, the Heat get clicking late.
Whatever the case, it's definitely working for them at the moment. The Heat came into the month with a 27-34 record. They weren't in the playoff picture and it looked like Wade's farewell season would have an early ending.
Since March started, that 7-2 record has gotten them to 34-36. They're now in the playoffs in the eighth seed, 1.5 games ahead of the Orlando Magic. They're also in position to move up, just one game back from the seventh-seeded Brooklyn Nets and two games back from the sixth-seeded Detroit Pistons.
Wade can credit his coach and the system, but he deserves some love as well. The 37-year-old is not playing like someone who's retiring at the end of the season. He's averaging 14.3 points and 4.2 assists per game on the year.
What's even crazier is that the future Hall of Famer is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. He's actually upped his scoring since the All-Star break, averaging 15.3 points per game in that time.
