Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade has established himself as one of the best on the court. Recently, his activities have extended off the court through his participation in charitable activities. Per Heatzone writer Tom D'Angelo, Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union have donated $200,000 to help send students to the gun control rally in Washington D.C. on March 24.

Wade expressed that it has been their desire to support kids in his hometown in Chicago, as well as the kids in D.C. to take part in the protests.

“We want to get a lot of people involved from the NBA and hopefully beyond that so I definitely wanted to get the ball rolling,” Wade said.

“They’re doing marches in each state, especially NBA cities. We’re trying to get individuals involved in those cities to be able to help kids go to those marches as well if they can’t go to D.C.,” he added.

Along with Dwyane Wade, his friend and fellow superstar Carmelo Anthony of the Oklahoma City Thunder, also pledged allegiance. In his Twitter account, Melo expressed his support for Wade and also asked for donations from the rest of the NBA.
