Dwyane Wade announced right before training camp that the 2018-19 NBA season will be his last, marking the end of an era for the Miami Heat. According to Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel, Wade is having to “rebuild” his legs to get ready for his upcoming final season.

“No matter how hard you work in the summer. There's going to come a point in training camp where those legs are going to go. And everything you worked on doesn't even matter. You're going to have the rebuild it back.”

At 36 years old, Wade is still more than capable of making an impact for the Heat this season. He may no longer be able to average more than 20 points per game, but he will have monster performances on any given night.

Last season was a bit of a circus for Wade. He started the year with the Cleveland Cavaliers and then was traded ahead of the NBA trade deadline to the Heat. Wade ended up playing 21 games with the Heat following the trade.

In those 21 games with Miami, Wade averaged 12.0 points per game to go along with 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists. He shot 40.9 percent from the field overall and knocked down 22.0 percent of his 3-point attempts.

Those numbers may not look amazing, but the veteran impact that Wade had on the team was a major positive. He also had several huge performances in the playoffs.

Expect to see Wade earn a major role this season, whether he starts or comes off the bench. Wade may not be “The Flash” anymore, but his last season should be a special one.
