Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade played in his hometown of Chicago for the final time in his NBA career on Saturday night, finishing with 14 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in a 117-103 Heat victory over the Bulls.

Wade received a standing ovation from the United Center crowd, and after the game, Wade waxed about the path of his NBA tenure:

“Don’t ever think you’re dreaming too big because you never know what’s waiting for you,” said Wade, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune. “I’m truly blessed to say that my career has been able to go the way it has. I’m lucky.”

The Bulls played a video tribute for Wade before he entered the game in the first quarter. Remember: Wade played one season with the Bulls during the 2016-17 campaign.

The 37-year-old will always have fond memories of his one season in Chicago:

“My vision of playing the game of basketball started watching the Chicago Bulls, my favorite player of all time Michael Jordan, Scottie (Pippen),” he said. “I could go down the list and name all the Bulls players. It definitely, this city, this Chicago Bulls name, it means a lot to me. It will always mean a lot to me.”

While Wade has spent the vast majority of his career playing for the Heat, the Bulls will always have a special place in his heart:

“The good organizations, the good franchises, they figure out a way to try to stay competitive,” he said. “And I think the Bulls are trying to right the wrong. They’re trying to get it right. They’ve got some talented young players here. … I’ll be looking as I get done playing this game of basketball hoping they get the chance to go back to the Eastern Conference finals and go back to the NBA Finals one day for this city.”

Dwyane Wade will call it a career after this season.
