Recently retired Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade is a big believer in the franchise's 2019 first-round pick Tyler Herro.

Herro was selected by the Heat with the 13th overall pick in last June's draft. He spent a single season with Kentucky Wildcats before entering the draft and joining the South Beach franchise.

At the Jr. NBA Global Championship on Sunday, Wade spoke about Herro's potential.

“I followed the Summer League and got to see whatever the Heat posted on their page,” Wade said, per Cody Taylor of USA Today. “I haven’t been around the players yet but I like what I see. When the Miami Heat draft somebody, you gotta know how they’re built. So, I already know [Herro] has a special build about him and now it’s just about what work he wants to put in to become whatever player he wants to become. He looks like he wants it. I can’t wait to see what happens this year in his rookie year. I look forward to it.”

Wade and Udonis Haslem — who signed a one-year contract with the Heat to return for his 17th season in the NBA — are both at the junior championship event as global ambassadors of the game of basketball.

Herro averaged 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in his lone season in Kentucky, shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 35.5 percent from the 3-point line and 93.5 percent from the charity stripe.

The 19-year-old is known for his superb outside shooting ability. At 6-foot-5, Herro is slightly short among the league's shooting guards, but the Heat are betting that his shooting will overcome the odds.
