Erik Spoelstra has just reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the Miami Heat with a recent statement. Speaking on an interview Sirius XM NBA Radio, the 49-year-old made it abundantly clear that he intends to remain with the Heat for the remainder of his career.

“[Team owner] Micky [Arison] and [team president] Pat [Riley] created this culture,” Spoelstra said, via Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. “Some people might think they need to venture out on their own to create their own image. I do not have any of those kind of feelings. I feel a sense of purpose by carrying this culture on and this legacy to future teams. It’s what I enjoy. It’s what fills my cup up. I want to keep this going as long as I can. It doesn’t feel like a job.”

Now that's the type of commitment any fan would love to hear from their coach, and by coming out with this statement, we're pretty sure the coach Spo will garner even more admiration from the Heat faithful.

Spoelstra has been with no other franchise throughout his career, starting off as an assistant coach of the Heat in 1997. More than a decade later, he was finally promoted to the head coaching position, and he has never looked back since.

Spoelstra led the Heat to that memorable back-to-back championship run, with his famed Big 3 of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. Things have not been as smooth sailing for Miami since that particular era came to an end, but what is also clear is that the Heat brass are very much willing to stick it out with Spoelstra for the considerable future.
