Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra on Wednesday surpassed his boss Pat Riley in the list of highest winning percentages among coaches with at least 100 games in the history of the NBA Playoffs.

With the Heat's win over the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 2 of their second round series, Spoelstra improved his record to 91-59 (.607) to move into fourth place and leap over Riley, according to ESPN. Spoelstra is now only behind Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr (.732), 10-time NBA champion coach Phil Jackson (.688), and Hall of Fame member Billy Cunningham (.629).

Riley went 171-111 (.606) in his fabled career in the NBA Playoffs.

Spoelstra learned the ropes from Riley, helping the Heat win the championship in 2006 as an assistant coach. Riley eventually handpicked his soft-spoken protege to handle the team. Clearly, his vision was on-point, as Spoelstra has become one of the greatest coaches in league history.

He steered the Heat to two more titles, handling the difficult dynamics of having the trio of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. But even after their departure, the 51-year-old Spoelstra has consistently made the Heat a contender, leading them to the NBA Finals in 2020. It's no wonder he was chosen as one of the NBA's 15 Greatest Coaches earlier this year.

Spoelstra will look to increase his winning percentage in the NBA Playoffs even more when the Heat take on the Sixers in Game 3 on Friday.
