Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic says star forward Jimmy Butler is a “great competitor” who will lead the team the right way next season.

Butler is a four-time All-Star and one of the best two-way players in the NBA. Dragic is looking forward to teaming up with Butler and leading the Heat to the playoffs in 2019-20 after Miami missed it last season.

“I mean, he’s a great competitor,” Dragic said of Butler, via Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “You can see that on the court. I don’t know him personally, but as a player, when I play against him he’s really a tough defender, he’s really vocal on the floor.

“I think he sets an example for the other players. I think he’s a huge addition for us, especially to lead this group. He can play on both ends, defense and on offense. He’s a great addition to our team.”

Last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers, Jimmy Butler averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Butler, 29, signed a four-year, $140.79 million contract with the Heat in July as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Sixers. For Miami to make the postseason next year, it will need Butler, Goran Dragic, Justise Winslow and Bam Adebayo to play at a high level every game.
