The Miami Heat's backcourt depth took a bit of a hit on Friday night. Guards Goran Dragic and Kendrick Nunn were announced as inactive against the Los Angeles Clippers for their Friday night matchup.

Dragic is dealing with soreness in his left calf while Nunn has left Achilles soreness.

Veteran swingman Jimmy Butler, meanwhile, will play against the Clippers in spite of his right knee soreness.

Dragic, 33, has adjusted to his new role during the 2019-20 season. He's come off the bench for head coach Erik Spoelstra after serving as a starter. In 34 games, the one-time All-Star has averaged 15.8 points and 5.0 assists per game, shooting 45.1% from the field and 39.2% from 3-point range.

It has been speculated that the veteran point guard could be moved by the NBA's trade deadline on Feb 6. Dragic has been on the trading block for quite a while for the Heat, even nearly being dealt over the past summer.

Part of the reason for Dragic's star setting in South Beach is the play of dynamic rookie Nunn. Nunn will miss his first game on Friday against L.A. The undrafted rookie has not slowed down from his fast start. He's averaging 16.2 points and 3.5 assists per game in 44 contests, shooting 46.1% from the floor and 35.6% from deep.

The Heat may be down Dragic and Nunn. But getting Butler in the lineup will help as they face a Clippers team dealing with internal drama, The Clippers will also be playing without star wing Paul George.
