Miami Heat point guard Goran Dragic will be out of commission for the next few games after having his swollen right knee drained on Monday morning, according to an official report from the team.

Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra noted that Dragic's injury doesn't seem to be that severe. It seems they just wanted to nip this issue in the bud, so to speak.

“We knew it wasn’t serious, but we knew it was something that needed to be taken care of,” Spoelstra said. “Hopefully, we can take care of it and wipe it out right now.”

Dragic, now 32 years of age, says he's glad it was “just fluids” in his knee. He hopes to be back on the floor sooner rather than later.

“I was relieved it was just fluids,” Dragic said. “They got the fluid out this morning. And from here on, I just need to rest a little bit and get back out there.”

Though the Heat are downplaying this injury, it must be noted that it is the same knee Dragic had issues with last season.

Dragic has made 13 appearances with the Heat this season (12 starts), racking up averages of 15.1 points on 41.6 percent shooting from the field (32.2 percent from beyond the arc), 4.3 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 28.4 minutes per outing.

With Dragic out of the lineup for a bit, Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington will likely see an uptick in minutes.

The Heat will be back in action on Tuesday night, when they'll serve as hosts to the Brooklyn Nets. Tip-off inside AmericanAirlines Arena is set for 7:30 p.m. EST.
