The Heat have made their way to The Motor City for Monday night's match-up against the Pistons. However, it sounds like Miami be without the services of Hassan Whiteside due to a knee injury.

Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel sent out an update on Whiteside's status Monday morning, noting that he will undergo further testing in Miami on Tuesday.

Hassan Whiteside landed awkwardly on his right knee during the second half of Saturday night's 123-118 loss to the Atlanta Hawks and did not return to action. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra decided to go with a smaller line-up for the remainder of the game.

Whiteside logged 16 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Hawks, scoring eight points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field, eight rebounds, and one assist.

On Sunday, Whiteside noted that his knee injury doesn't seem to be severe.

“We’re going to check with the doctor and figure out what happened,” Whiteside told the Miami Herald.

Whiteside may have been able to play in the second half, but he says he respects Spoelstra's decision to hold him out.

“I believe I’m the best shot blocker in the NBA and rebounder in the NBA,” Whiteside told the Miami Herald. “So, of course I feel like I can help. But it’s coach’s decision.”

In his eight appearances with the Heat this season, Whiteside has racked up averages of 12.4 points on 48.1 percent shooting from the field, 14.6 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks in 27.8 minutes per outing.

Monday night's Heat-Pistons game is scheduled to tip inside Little Caesars Arena at 7:00 p.m. EST.
