Miami Heat small forward Jae Crowder becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason, meaning Game 5 of the 2020 Finals could be his last game with the team if the Heat lose to the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, if Crowder had it his way, Friday won't be his final game with the Heat.

In an interview with Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, Crowder said he hopes to re-sign with the Heat once the 2020 free agency period begins.

“Hopefully we can work something out,” Jae Crowder said. “It’s enjoyable because we’re winning. Last two teams standing. It’s been a great, great organization to be a part of.”

The Heat acquired Crowder from the Memphis Grizzlies in the Andre Iguodala trade. He has a close relationship with Heat star Jimmy Butler, so it will be interesting to see if Butler tells Miami president Pat Riley to make Crowder a priority this offseason.

In the 2020 playoffs at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, Crowder is averaging 12.1 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 41.3 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from beyond the arc and 76.3 percent from the free-throw line. His sound two-way play is one of the reasons the Heat are in the Finals.

Crowder is in the final year of a five-year, $35 million contract he signed with the Boston Celtics in 2015. If the Heat don't re-sign the veteran wing, he will likely be pursued by a bevy of teams on the open market.
