Miami Heat forward James Johnson is expected to return against the Denver Nuggets on Friday after a one-game absence due to right knee tendinitis, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

Johnson admitted something felt wrong an hour prior to tip-off, causing his sudden scratch from the lineup.

“When I would shoot a jumper it kind of felt funny,” said Johnson. “I went up to shoot another one, it kind of buckled. And then that was it after that.”

Tendinitis could be a bearable condition, depending on the flare-ups experienced and the treatment applied throughout the week. Yet Johnson isn't too concerned with Wednesday's setback.

“Not too concerned,” he said. “It flared up. I had it for a while. I wasn't able to go as hard as I can, and that's not fair to my teammates, so I had to take a knee.”

Head coach Erik Spoelstra isn't worried about his jack-of-all-trades forward either, saying the team was trying to do what's best for his long-term health.

“It's been bothering him for a little bit of time,” Spoelstra said. “But my level of concern isn't high. This is something where we're trying to be proactive.”
