It's the dog days of summer, which means NBA rumors are for the most part absent at the moment. Leave it up to Miami Heat small forward Jimmy Butler to spice things up, as the four-time All-Star swingman recently followed Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal on Instagram.

This is relevant because the Heat have been rumored to be trying to acquire Beal from the Wizards. So far, Washington appears to have no interest in trading its star shooting guard, who has two years left on his current deal.

The Wizards offered Beal a three-year, $111 million extension a few weeks ago. Beal has until October to let the Wizards know if he'll accept the offer or not.

The Heat want to pair Jimmy Butler with another star, and Bradley Beal fits that bill. Beal averaged 25.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists last season while shooting 47.5 percent from the field, 35.1 percent beyond the arc and 80.8 percent from the free-throw line.

Butler, who is an elite two-way player, put up 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philadelphia 76ers last season. He signed a four-year max contract with the Heat in July as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Sixers.
