Jimmy Butler is getting Dwyane Wade's old locker with the Miami Heat.

Butler and Wade are very close friends, so it's only fitting that Butler is getting Wade's old locker. The four-time All-Star is also the new franchise player with the Heat in the post-Wade era.

Jimmy Butler was reportedly blown away by all the pomp and circumstance surrounding Dwyane Wade’s last home game with the Heat last season against the Philadelphia 76ers. Butler told friends after the game that being able to see what Miami and the Heat organization are about left an enormous impact on him.

Butler signed a four-year, $140.79 million contract with the Heat in July as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Sixers. The swingman played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Philly last season.

A Texas native, Butler averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists with the Timberwolves and Sixers in 2018-19 while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line.

The Heat believe Butler fits their culture to a tee. Miami president Pat Riley and head coach Erik Spoelstra are hoping Butler will lead the Heat back to the playoffs this season after missing it last year.

Butler, 30, has career averages of 16.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 523 games.
