One of the main reasons Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler requested a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves was he felt he couldn’t compete in the deep Western Conference with Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns by his side.

Multiple reports have said that Butler didn’t respect Wiggins' and Towns’ work ethics. Butler and Towns’ relationship was believed to be more tenuous than Butler and Wiggins’. During the infamous practice where Butler verbally challenged his Timberwolves teammates, the four-time All-Star reportedly challenged Towns the hardest out of anyone.

Butler is very happy with the Heat since everyone on the team works just as hard as he does. The Texas native talked to Rachel Nichols of ESPN about that (starting around four minute mark):

Butler can be a hard teammate to play with, but in the end, everything he says is for the betterment of the team. It’s just that some players can’t handle criticism and Butler’s leadership style and that was apparently the case in Minnesota.

The Heat are 18-6 on the season and Butler is playing some of his best basketball. The four-time All-Star is averaging 20.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists on the season while shooting 43.1 percent from the field, 30.4 percent from beyond the arc and 82.7 percent from the free-throw line.
