The NBA All-Star pool has been finalized today. There were a lot of notable names that were snubbed, but if you ask Miami Heat All-Star Jimmy Butler, only one missing name matters: Tyler Herro.

After a nail-biting loss to the Toronto Raptors in overtime, Butler talked at length about Herro missing the All-Star cut. The Heat star believes that Herro deserves an All-Star spot this year, but isn't too bothered because he believes that there's a lot more coming for him. (via NBA Central)

“I think he's been playing at an All-Star level. … He deserves it. But he has a long career, and he'll be a multiple All-Star.”

From a Heat fan's perspective, this makes a lot of sense. Herro's emergence as another threat has been one of the reasons why Miami hasn't sunk completely despite their injuries. He's averaging 20.0 points per game along with 4.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists, while shooting incredibly from deep.

However, it's hard to see who would Herro realistically replace in the East reserve pool. It's not a knock on the Heat star, but rather proof of how stacked the East is right now. Guys like Fred VanVleet and Darius Garland are having career years, while also playing a more prominent role on their teams.

That doesn't mean that Tyler Herro won't make the All-Star team ever. As Butler alluded to in his comments, the Heat guard has a long career ahead of him. Based on his current performance, it's easy to see Herro making a few All-Star games in the future. Perhaps even a starting spot is in the cards for him!
