Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler is asking his naysayers, especially those in radio, to stay in their lane.

As part of a recent interview with SI, Butler noted that his detractors can “kiss his a–.”

“They can kiss my ass,” Butler said, via SI. “You’re entitled to your opinion, but stay on the radio. You know, everybody’s big and bad on the internet. That’s O.K. The group of guys that we got, we’re gonna win. We’re gonna be fine. All I ask is that you keep that same energy when it’s like, ‘Ohhhh, [the Heat are] surprising all these people.’ Nope. I want you to still say that Jimmy made the wrong choice and their team is terrible.”

The Heat acquired Butler from the Sixers as part of a trade prior to the start of this season. Some members of the media questioned his decision to leave Philadelphia, as the team had a talented roster. Ultimately, though, he felt it was time for a change.

Butler, a player who has been outspoken about his surroundings in the past, seems to be at home with Pat Riley's Heat. The team has played well throughout this season. In fact, Miami is holding a 36-22 overall record, which is currently good for the No. 4 spot in the Eastern Conference standings.

Butler is enjoying one of the best statistical seasons of his career. In his 55 appearances with the Heat, the former Marquette Golden Eagle has racked up averages of 20.5 points on 45.2 percent shooting from the field, a career-high 6.8 rebounds, 6.2 assists (career-high) and 1.8 steals in 34.4 minutes per outing. Notably, though, he's carrying a 24.6 percent mark from beyond the arc. And furthermore, his 2.3 turnovers per game are a career-high.

Clearly, Butler is not going to be swayed by outside opinions this season. It's probably for the best, as the Heat are focused on a playoff push.
