Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat were so close to pulling off an epic comeback to beat the Boston Celtics and reach the 2022 NBA Finals. After an 11-0 run, Butler just needed to hit one last 3-pointer and the Heat needed one last stop to get it done. Unfortunately, Butler's potential game-winning 3-point attempt was off, and Marcus Smart then closed the door with a pair of free throws to give the Celtics a 100-96 win.

It was a tough pill to swallow for Butler, who had 35 points in Game 7 after his heroic 47-point effort in Game 6 on the road. The Heat star has no regrets about his miss and will surely use it as motivation for next season. He was already talking about next season after the Game 7 loss and vowed to get the job done the next time around.

Via The Athletic's Joe Vardon:

“I think we had enough – I think we do have enough,” Butler said. “It sucks because you don’t know who is going to be on the roster any given year, you know what I’m saying?

“We had enough. Next year, we will have enough and we’re going to be right back in the same situation, and we’re going to get it done.”

It's no surprise for Butler to be so confident about Miami's chances next season. The Heat star is a confident guy, as evidenced by that last 3-point attempt. He believes in himself and his team.

It will be a major challenge, though. Kyle Lowry isn't getting any younger, and there are some other roster issues to figure out. Butler himself will be 33 next season, so he's no spring chicken either.

Still, even if winning it all next season will be a tall order, there's no reason to believe the Heat won't at least be in the mix again at the top of the Eastern Conference.
