Justise Winslow is fine playing power forward for the Miami Heat, but he wants to keep handling the ball and making plays for his teammates.

Winslow said earlier in September that he wants to keep playing as point guard for the Heat, which suggests he is ready to challenge veteran playmaker Goran Dragic for the spot. However, during the team's media day, he said he doesn't care about the position as long as he is the one “bringing the ball up and making plays.”

“The position, it doesn't really matter,” Winslow said, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “I'll play the four if that means I'm bringing the ball up and making plays, if that's what you call a four. So it doesn't really matter the position. It's more how I'm being used on the court.”

Winslow had a terrific season last year as he saw his role expanded to becoming the team’s primary ballhandler — especially after the injury to Goran Dragic.

That role suited Winslow, as his size, handle and speed proved to be a difficult combination for opposing defenses to contend with. Last season, he produced career-highs in scoring (12.6 points), rebounding (5.4 boards) and passing (4.3 assists per game), all while playing 29.7 minutes per contest

Jimmy Butler is sure to want the ball a lot on his new team, while Dragic and Dion Waiters will likely handle the rock a decent amount of time as well. However, there's no doubt Winslow deserves his fair share of chances as the team’s primary ballhandler. With good size and terrific defensive chops, Winslow makes for an interesting offensive initiator.
