Although the 2017-18 NBA season may have just ended for some teams, a few of its players are already looking forward to next year. Among them is Miami Heat center Kelly Olynyk.

Olynyk is undoubtedly coming off his best season yet. However, according to Tom D'Angelo of The Palm Beach Post, he is preparing for an even bigger role next year:

“I definitely had the best year of my career and I’ll keep building on that this summer, hopefully keep expanding my game. … Just kind of taking that same role that I have this year and just expanding it,” said Olynyk, who was the Heat’s third-leading scorer during the playoff series against the 76ers, which lasted just five games. “I’m going to do those things better.”

Olynyk's career got off to a bit of a slow start with the Boston Celtics after being taken with the 13th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. As a result, he ultimately parted ways with Boston last offseason

He has since enjoyed a bit of a resurgence since signing a four-year, $50 million deal with the Heat. Olynyk made the most of it by averaging a career-high 11.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game this season. Although his stint with Miami got off to a slow start, his minutes progressed as the season went on due to the shaky play of center Hassan Whiteside.

Olynyk continued his impressive play in the postseason which should pay huge dividends for Miami down the line. While the Heat may have fallen well short of their goals for this season, they can take solace in the fact that they boast one of the more versatile frontcourts in the NBA to build on this offseason.
