By the way Kendrick Nunn is playing his first three NBA games, you’d think the Miami Heat guard was a lottery pick in the 2019 draft.

The 24-year-old undrafted shooting guard has been a revelation for the Heat so far, introducing himself big time when he scored 40 points in the team’s preseason finale. He surpassed LeBron James’ record of 38 points for the highest scoring preseason game by a Heat player in the last 20 years.

The final G-League call-up of the 2018-19 season carried the same momentum heading into the regular season, as he broke another Heat record in their game versus the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday.

Nunn has scored the most points (60) in the first three games of anyone in a Heat uniform. Even more impressive, he achieved the feat in the first two quarters of Sunday’s game when he already had 18 points at the half.

The record was previously held by Michael Beasley who tallied 51 points, per Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press.

Nunn will get a chance to break more records in the coming games, as Willie Burton scored 73 in his first four while the five-game feat is Beasley’s 88. Nunn did not get much attention when he suited up for Golden State’s G-League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors last season.

The 6-foot-2 guard is averaging 21.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds per game this 2019-20.

He has already carved out some playing time in coach Erik Spoelstra’s rotation and has given him a good dilemma in terms of managing the minutes of a prolific backcourt that also includes Goran Dragic, Justice Winslow, Tyler Herro and the disgruntled Dion Waiters.
